Jim Hughes is the HR Director of Carlton Corporate Finance and Carlton Capital Partners.

He established his own search and consultancy firm, James Hughes Associates Ltd. in 1988. He has worked successfully at senior level with clients in a wide range of organisations, particularly in the financial services, retail, leisure and drinks sectors.

Prior to this he was a Senior Partner in an international search firm, Blake Bell Davies and a Director of Harold Whitehead & Partners, management consultants.

Jim’s early career included periods at the Ordnance Factories and at Guest Keen & Nettlefold in engineering roles. He joined British Aerospace in training and development and then went to ICI where he moved into mainstream employee relations and HR.

Jim then joined the Burton Group and ultimately became HR Director for one of the Operating Divisions, covering all aspects of retailing, manufacturing and distribution. He moved to Courage where he initially held board level responsibility for HR and ultimately for Distribution.

Jim is an engineering graduate, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
